Patience Jonathan Concerned Over The Delayed Rescue Of The Chibok Girls

Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has voiced her concern over the prolonged released of the Chibok school girls who were abducted by the Boko Haram sect, over three months ago.

Speaking during a meeting with the Nigerian community in Windhoek, Namibia, the First Lady empathised with families of the missing girls and the entire Chibok community where they were kidnapped from.
“As a mother, I am very worried over the abduction of these girls; I share the pains of the mothers whose children were abducted,” Patience said.

A 38-year-old woman in Scotland who told doctors she was suffering from shaking, incontinence and severe weight loss turned out to have a s*x toy stuck inside her v**ina that had been there for 10 years, according to an article published in the June edition of the Journal of s*xual Medicine.

The woman — who the article notes was of normal intelligence — told doctors she used the five-inch toy in a drunken s*xual encounter a decade ago and didn’t remember whether she took it out or not, the Daily Mail reported.

By the time surgeons found it, the toy’s effects were potentially life-threatening. It had caused a bladder blockage that was forcing urine to back up into her kidneys, and had also created a vesicovaginal fistula, which is a tract that causes urine to flow into the v**ina. Yikes.

WHY WE ARE SLOW TO RESCUE THE ABDUCTED CHIBOK SCHOOL GIRLS - PRESIDENCY

Barely 102 days after the Chibok girls were kidnapped by members of Boko Haram in Borno State, the presidency has come out to make known the real reasons why the Federal Government has not been able to rescue the school girls.

The president made it known yesterday in a message to the participants of the Chatham House lecture series held at the Royal institute of International Affairs in London.
According to it, the government is taking a long time to bring back the 200 schoolgirls because it wants the girls to be recovered alive, using the 2004 experience of 300 kidnapped children, who were killed in an attempt by Russians to forcefully free them, as an example.
The president revealed his numerous plans to strike against the insurgents who are being funded by international and local sources. Vanguard also reports that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, told everyone present at the house lecture that the Nigerian Army has all it takes to bring back the schoolgirls, but all the Jonathan’s administration is doing is to guide against a face-off that might jeopardize the lives of the children involved.
It would be recalled that just yesterday, the wife of the leader of Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF), Mujahid Asari Dokubo, said, just like her husband, the abduction of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls in Borno State on April 14 is a scam.

Kaduna Blasts Update: Committee Set Up To Investigate Attack On Buhari, Others

An investigative team has been set up by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar, to uncover the perpetrators of Wednesday’s twin blast in Kaduna, which had killed scores, left many injured.

A statement on Thursday by the police spokesperson, Frank Mba, revealed that the team of investigators will be headed by Commissioner of Police in charge of Legal Department, Nwodibo Ekechukwu, Premium Times reports.

Other members of the team include, Chris Ezike of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Dan Mallam of the Monitoring Unit and Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi of the Interpol Unit and others. All the officers are Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCPs.

THE LIBERIAN MAN WITH EBOLA VIRUS, WHO HAS BEEN IN NIGERIA IS DEAD

Mr. Patrick Sawyer, a WASH consultant at the Ministry of Finance, who had been quarantined since arriving Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday, July 20, 2014 with symptoms of the Ebola virus, has died .

 A Liberian government official, speaking on condition of anonymity said the news of Sawyer’s death was relayed to Liberia by the Nigerian embassy, in the early hours of Friday, July 25, 2014.

 The Lagos government health authorities announced on Thursday, July 24, 2014 that Sawyer was being tested for the deadly Ebola virus. Sawyer’s death is the first recorded case of one of the world’s deadliest diseases in Nigeria, Africa’s biggest economy and most populous nation, with 170 million people. Ebola has killed 632 people across Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since an outbreak began in February, straining a string of weak health systems despite international help.

Amaechi, Oshiomhole Dare Jonathan Over Impeachment Allegations

Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers state and Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state have said neither the Presidency nor the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could impeach them as they did with former governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Murtala Nyako. The duo said they are not losing sleep over the alleged plot by the Presidency to push for their impeachment, Punch reports. 

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Chief Tony Okocha, Gov. Amaechi said he and his followers were aware of the threat of impeachment in order to force him back to the PDP, but it would not work as twenty-five PDP Assembly members have all defected formerly to the APC, thereby foreclosing any thought of his (Amaechi) removal as the state governor. 

Amaechi who described the threat as a dull dream and a wild goose chase, said he would not quit politics as a result of the threat to impeach him or force him to join the PDP, and that his political future is in the hands of God and the people of the state. He said, “People are defecting enmasse to APC. So, they need to come and break our ranks here before they can achieve their plan. The threat to impeach Amaechi so that he will return to the PDP will not work; it is wishy-washy, it is a dull dream. A middle-aged housewife has caused a little drama in an Ejigbo Customary Court in Lagos State, yesterday when she rejected a divorce suit filed against her by her husband, saying they made love before appearing in the court of law that morning.

Mariam Jimoh, mother of two , who got married ten years ago to her Oyo-state born husband, simply identified as Sunday without her parents’ knowledge cried out to the court that the dissolution would be unfair on her part as she still performs her wifely duties which includes taking care of her two children who are aged 6 and 4 and also performing her wifely roles to the husband.

The embittered wife however grieved on not knowing where to go after the divorce saying she has planned her life with his husband including having the next baby for him. The husband, revealed to the court of law that he was tired of the whole marriage saying his parents were and are still not in support of the union which produced two cute boys, David and Simon.

The court has however withdraw the case as the parents of both parties were said to be ready to settle the family issue amicably out of court. It could be recalled that just recently,  a 63-year-old man, Joseph Okeleke urged a customary court to dissolve his 24-year marriage over his wife switch to different churches and being adulterous.

Jonathan, Mark, Atiku Mourn Ex-Petroleum Minister, Rilwanu Lukman

President Goodluck Jonathan has mourned the passing away of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources and one-time secretary general of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Dr Rilwanu Lukman.

The late Lukman, who held several government appointments including minister of mines, power and steel and Senior Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum and Energy matters, died Monday morning after an undisclosed protracted illness in Vienna, Austria, a month to his 76th birthday.
President Jonathan, in a statement signed by his spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, yesterday, noted that it was with sadness and a feeling of great national loss that he received news of the death of Rilwanu Lukman whom he said the country owed a huge debt of gratitude.
Also, Senate President David Mark in his reaction, described the ex-minister’s demise as a huge loss to Nigeria.
In a press statement issued by his chief press secretary, Paul Mumeh, the senate president noted that Lukman was one of few Africans who left positive footprints on the sands of time.
In the same vein, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has described the late Lukman as the best oil minister Nigeria has ever had.
Atiku, in a statement by his media office in Abuja yesterday said, “I will describe Rilwanu Lukman as the best oil minister we ever had given his unmatched knowledge of the industry and the integrity with which he ran the ministry”.
