ASUU STRIKE LATEST: FG Moves to Break ASUU Ranks, As FUTO, ESUT, Unijos End Strike
With some universities welcoming back lecturers and students despite the continued stance of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that the strike is still on, the federal government has succeeded in breaking the ranks of the lecturers.
The government had, through the acting minister of education, Nyesom Wike, ordered universities to reopen and threatened to sack any lecturer that failed to report to work.

PRO-CHANCELLORS CALLS FOR ALL UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA TO RE-OPEN
The communiqué signed by the Chairman of the Committee, Professor Kimse Okoko, was made available to newsmen late Tuesday in Abuja.
The communiqué was issued at the end of the committee meeting to discuss the protracted strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other issues affecting the Nigerian university system.
The communiqué stated that the decision to re-open the Federal universities was unanimously agreed by all pro-chancellors in the overall interest of all concerned.
The pro-chancellors, in the communique, directed all vice chancellors to comply with the committee decision.
