Following his allegation that Nigeria is gradually slipping in to fascism under the watch of President Goodluck Jonathan, while reacting to Tuesday’s impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, the Presidency yesterday tongue-lashed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying he has lost focus.

The Ukrainian government yesterday published a heartbreaking photo of a dead infant and accused Russian president Vladimir Putin of having the blood of the baby victim of flight MH17 on his hands.

Senior government advisor Anton Gerashchenko posted the pic on their website, with a message to Putin saying: ‘This baby’s death is on your conscience. Damn you for centuries!’. He said he agonised over whether to publish the image of the tiny corpse lying in the field or not but decided the world needed to see it.

3 infants died after the plane was shot down on Thursday May 17th by pro-Russian rebels and till today, many bodies are still lying in fields. Meanwhile yesterday Russian rebels stopped investigators who arrived the MH17 crash site from investigating the site, firing several warning shots. And the rebel commander blamed for shooting down the plane said “bodies aren’t fresh’, claiming corpses around the wreckage died before plane took off. Yes, he said so. Unbelievable!

Boko Haram Takes Over a Borno Town, Hoists Flag

Boko Haram have taken over the north-eastern town of Damboa, Borno State, killing over 100 people in the process.

The Islamist sect had since hoisted its black and white flag over the town left undefended by the Nigerian military, reports PMNews, citing civil defence spokesman and a human rights advocate said.

Malaysian Passenger Plane Shot Down In Donetsk By Ground To Air Missil

A Malaysian passenger airliner with 295 people on board crashed in Ukraine near the Russian border, Interfax cited an aviation industry source as saying on Thursday.

Malaysia Airlines confirmed on its Twitter feed that it had lost contact with Flight MH17 that was traveling from Amsterdam, adding that "the last known position was over Ukrainian airspace."

That flight, according to the aviation tracking website Flightstats.com, was scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 6:10 a.m. local time.

Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to Ukraine's Interior Minister, said on his Facebook page the plane was flying at an altitude of 33,000 feet when it was hit by a missile fired from a Buk surface-to-air missile system.

BREAKING NEWS: EMBATTLED GOVERNOR OF ADAMAWA STATE, IMPEACHED BY THE STATE LEGISLATURE

Embattled Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, has been impeached.

The governor was removed a while ago as the state House of Assembly deliberated on the report of an investigative panel that probed allegations of financial misconducts against him.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari, resigned from office to avoid being impeached.

Mr. Ngilari’s resignation letter was read at plenary by the speaker of the Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, after which the lawmakers approved it.

The House is sitting today to consider the report of the seven-member investigative panel, appointed to probe allegations of financial impropriety against the governor and his deputy.

The committee submitted its report to the House on Monday.

There is high security presence on the road leading to the Assembly and inside the complex.

A source, who works with the Assembly, told PREMIUM TIMES only staff and journalists are being allowed access into the Assembly.

The source requested not to be named because he had no permission to speak to journalists on the matter.

Flood Kills 3, Hundreds Rendered Homeless In Edo

No fewer than three persons were confirmed dead following a torrential rain on Sunday in Igarra, headquarters of Akoko Edo Local Council of Edo.

Houses and household items were submerged by heavy flooding caused by the rain.

A witness, Akinola Onabiyi, said on Monday at Igarra that the rain, which started about 5 p.m., lasted for about eight hours had rendered hundreds of people homeless.
