NIS Recruitment: Applicants Sues FG, Morro, Others; Asks For N1m Compensation Each


Four of the applicants in the just cancelled immigration recruitment exercise, on behalf of themselves and others who participated, have filed a suit against the federal government, seeking among others, a refund of their application fees.
They also asked the court to declare that the conduct or the execution of the recruitment exercise was illegal, unwarranted and in violation of the their fundamental rights to life.

Chinese satellite find suspected crash site of missing Malaysian flight



A Chinese satellite searching for missing Malaysian Airlines flight has found what is being described as three 'large, floating objects' in the South China Sea, UK Daily Mail reports

It is also in the original search area under the flight’s original search path and appears to discount the theory that the aircraft turned back towards Malaysia and crashed hundreds of miles away on the other side of the Malaysian peninsula.

President Jonathan Begs Gusau: Please Don't Put Me to Shame



Controversy is still trailing the resignation of Aliyu Gusau and his purported return to the cabinet:
The Presidency and the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday denied reports that the Minister of Defence, Lt.-Gen. Aliyu Gusau, had resigned his appointment. But surprisingly, Gusau was the only Minister who refused to attend the Federal Executive Council meeting in Aso Rock on Wednesday.

Despite the denials by Reuben Abati and other jobbers in the Presidency, the truth of the matter is that Gusau indeed resigned and declared that he wont have anything to do with a government that lacks respect.

Okpekpe grabs Linkage Assurance plc’s sponsorship - Vanguard News




Dirrector of Organisation for the annual Okpekpe 5 kilometre road race, Zak Amodu has revealed that the body has secured the sponsorship of Linkage  Assurance plc as the Official Insurer of the second edition slated to hold on May 3.

Disclosing this at a world press conference in Lagos on  Wednesday, Amodu said: “In our determination to meet the requirement of the IAAF label condition, we  have this afternoon secured the sponsorship of Linkage Assurance plc as the Official Insurer of the 2nd  edition of the OKPEKPE road road.




They will provide insurance cover for the entire 3000 runners  expected this year on a value in kind basis with some cash to support the overall race organisation.

”The total financial commitment of 10m Naira will be  envisaged to cover the following: 1.Death benefit for each athlete and official; 2. Permanent  Disablement; 3. Medical Expenses. Linkage will be the joining the following broadcast partners:
Supersports – they will broadcast on Pay TV and support with a pre-event Lets Play activity for 2000   kids on  the 2nd May 2014. AIT will be broadcasting terrestrial as a broadcast partner.

”As in the first race, we are committed to getting a label after the mandatory two races to be the first country in Africa to be labelled in a Road Race and as  such our sponsorship objective is driven by strong Equity relationship,” Amodu said.
