There was a an inspiring show by some selected children of Nigeria, which captivated the mood of the audience who were later called out one after the other  for donations, by the President of the Country - Goodluck Jonathan, after his opening address. To keep the floor open by the donations meant to cushion  the effects of damages on the lives and properties of Nigerians as a result of the prevailing insurgency in Nigeria, was the richest man in Nigeria - Aliko Dangote, who donated One billion Naira to the fund. Before him, the president and the F.C.T. minister and local government councils have made and pledged donations of over thirteen billion naira to the fund.

A high-level Nigerian security source told Sahara Reporters that Nigeria’s intelligence agencies have received “credible reports that Boko Haram has developed an ambitious plan to overwhelm and take over Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa states.”

The high-level intelligence agent further disclosed that...

A Popular Islamic Alfa Caught With New Baby's Placenta

The discovery of a baby placenta in the home of a popular Alfa, identified as Alfa Gani, is causing confusion in the Laduba community, Ogidi area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The discovery was made when some volunteers went round the Laduba community to appeal for financial contributions from residents for the repair of a faulty transformer in the area.

It was said that the volunteers perceived offensive odour at Gani’s residence, which they later reported to other members of the community. Curious to know what smelled, some members of the community rushed to the man’s residence and demanded an explanation for the offensive odour oozing from his house.

An eyewitness said Alfa Gani initially accused the community members of intruding into his privacy. He was said to have rushed to the Oloje Police Station to report the community members...

The eyewitness, who spoke to Punch, added that before Gani could come back with the police, the community members had entered his house and discovered a boy with a baby placenta.

The enraged community members were said to have beaten up the boy, making him to confess that he was asked to prepare a charm by Gani, who allegedly exhumed the placenta.

While this was going on, a woman, whose baby naming ceremony was recently held near Gani’s house, arrived at the scene. On seeing the placenta, she was said to have rushed to where the placenta of her new-born baby was buried, only to discover that it was missing. She was said to have raised the alarm, alerting the community members to the ugly development.

When Alfa Gani came back with police to arrest community members, the commotion was still in progress.

The source said, “The residents narrated their discovery to the policemen. It was at that point that the police decided to search the entire house including an uncompleted building behind the suspect’s house, after which they discovered some human parts.”

It was gathered that the enraged mob vandalised Gani’s house and set it on fire.

The policemen, who were overwhelmed by the crowd, managed to prevent them from lynching the suspect as they whisked Alfa Gani away to their station. The incident fuelled speculations that there were dens of ritual killers and markets where human parts were traded in Ilorin.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, however, told Punch that there was no den of ritual killers in the state capital.

He said, “That is not true. What was discovered was not a den of ritual killers, but a suspected criminal who was used to performing fetish activities. The man was looking for a placenta of a new baby, exhumed the buried placenta and used it for whatever yet-to-be identified purpose.

“He just came back from jail. He went to where a placenta was just buried about three days ago before the incident. He dug up the placenta and while he was doing that, people saw him and tried to do things their own way. In the process of damaging his house by the youth, the police got there and arrested the suspect with the exhibit. The police have started investigation to get to the root of the matter.”

Deadly Ebola Virus Is Now In Nigeria: SEE How To Prevent It

The fast killer, Ebola virus, has been confirmed in a hospital near Obalende in Lagos on a 40years old Liberian. There is panic in the air but you can stay free from the deadly virus. Check out the details:

WHAT IS EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE?
Ebola virus disease (EVD) or Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) is the human disease caused by ebola viruses. Symptoms start two days to three weeks after contracting the virus with a fever, throat and muscle pains, and headaches. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the disease has a
case fatality rate of up to 90 per cent, this means about 90 per cent of individuals that suffer from the disease could die.

TREATMENT
No vaccine for EVD is available. Several vaccines are being tested, but none are available for clinical use. TRANSMISSION

Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected animals.
Ebola then spreads in the community through human-to-human transmission, with infection resulting from direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with the blood, secretions, organs or other bodily fluids of infected people, and indirect contact with environments contaminated with such fluids.
Burial ceremonies in which mourners have direct contact with the body of the deceased person can also play a role in the transmission of Ebola.
Men who have recovered from the disease can still transmit the virus through their semen for up to 7 weeks after recovery from illness.
Health-care workers have frequently been infected while treating patients with suspected or confirmed EVD.
PREVENTION:

Wash your hands frequently. As with other infectious diseases, one of the most important preventive measures for Ebola virus is frequent hand-washing. Use soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol when soap and water aren't available.

Avoid bush meat. In developing countries, wild animals, including nonhuman primates, are sold in local markets. Avoid buying or eating any of these animals.

Avoid contact with infected people. In particular, caregivers should avoid contact with the person's body fluids and tissues, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions and saliva. People with Ebola are most contagious in the later stages of the disease.

Follow infection-control procedures. If you're a health care worker, wear protective clothing — such as gloves, masks, gowns and eye shields. Keep infected people isolated from others. Carefully disinfect and dispose of needles and other instruments. Injection needles and syringes should not be reused.

Don't handle remains. The bodies of people who have died of Ebola disease are still contagious. Specially organized and trained teams should bury the remains, using appropriate safety equipment.

Avoid traveling to areas of known outbreaks.
Watch out for people with flu-like symptoms and sudden fever. Those who notice “strange feeling or symptoms similar to those of Ebola virus, which ranges from fever, headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, sore throat and joint pains, which are all symptoms of other ailments, are urged to visit competent health facilities.

In the absence of such facilities, please call the following numbers: 08023169485, 08033086660, 08033065303, 08055281442, 08055329229.

He said he soon became weak and fell down and wanted to vomit but could not, adding that that was all he knew until he woke up in the hospital the following day.
Mr. Ogbonnaya thanked God for saving their lives from perishing at an all-night prayer meeting.

Man Set Ex-Girlfriend On Fire For Sleeping Around On Him

4330452_G
A man from Alabama has been accused of splashing gasoline on his ex-girlfriend, before setting her entire body on fire.
48-year-old Michael Kennedy, the man who committed this horrible crime was arrested yesterday afternoon on charges of domestic violence and attempted murder, according to Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman Randy Christian.
Investigators said Kennedy and his ex-girlfriend would constantly make-up with each other, then suddenly break up with one another. Kennedy had been dating his 49-year-old ex-girlfriend for a long time, until she decided to end the relationship because he constantly accused her of cheating on him.
A police officer claims witnesses told investigators Kennedy returned to his ex-girlfriends house after their last break up. When he finally arrived at the house in Birmingham on Sunday, he got revenge by setting her on fire after a heated dispute.
Police say the woman suffered numerous burns to her upper body, arms, head, and legs. She is currently in the hospital in horrible condition.
The crazy part about this situation is the fact Kennedy is only being held on $60,000 bond.
He went to her home and lit a woman on fire with gasoline after an argument, and he has a $60,000 bond? No wonder men commit these crimes. So for $6000 he can be back on the street to finish the job? The laws need to be changed. His bond should be locked for this type of offense. Just sad.
Legal records didn’t reveal whether or not he had an attorney.
