PDP Issues Red Card to Mimiko, Promises To Rule South West Again Ayodele Fayose, Buruji Kashamu

Ayodele Fayose, Buruji Kashamu and PDP's Ondo state guber candidate, OkeThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has woken up fBuruji Kashamu's banner at the rallyrom its slumber, determined to unseat the Labor Party (LP) in Ondo State.

Ayodele Fayose, the governor-elect of Ekiti State, made the assertion at a victory rally organized for him in Akure, the Ondo State capital, by the state chapter of the PDP.

Mr. Fayose stated that both the Labor Party and the All Progressive Congress (APC) should brace to receive red cards come the 2016 governorship election in Ondo.

He disclosed that the PDP in Ondo State, which had suffered from lack of internal democracy, was now formidable and ready to win all elections in the state.

The Ekiti State governor elect said the era of imposition of candidates by the PDP was now in the past, adding that his party was fully prepared for the 2015 general elections.
“When popular candidates emerge through primary elections, the party [will be] sure of victory at the general polls,” Mr. Fayose said.
He also said he was optimistic that the PDP would emerge victorious in the coming August 9, 2014 governorship election in Osun State. He warned the APC to desist from propaganda on the pages of national newspapers.

Mr. Fayose said that part of the strategy for wresting power from the incumbent Labor Party government in Ondo State was to continually hold rallies in the various local governments.

"We will be holding rallies every time and I am ready to work for Ondo State to unseat the present Labor Party government. We will strengthen the party,” he said.
He added: "Though I am not in a leadership tussle with anyone in the southwest, my mission is to claim the region back to the PDP and I will make myself available in all rallies of the party."

Speaking at the event, Olusola Oke, the PDP’s governorship candidate in the last general election in Ondo State, said the party was ready to unseat the Labor Party government. Mr. Oke said the era of “prostitution politics” embarked upon by Governor Olusegun Mimiko would not be tolerated anymore, adding that the ship of the LP was already sinking.

"Light has come back to Ondo State, and PDP is ready to reclaim its mandate from this political prostitution.

"The era where someone will be claiming [to be a] Peoples Democratic Party member in Abuja and be destroying the party in Ondo is over,” he said.

Olaiya Oni, a former state chairman of the Labor Party who has now joined the PDP, urged party supporters to join hands in condemning Mr. Mimiko’s tyrannical government.

Mr. Oni described the Labor Party as a failure, adding that many of the party’s policies were unfavorable to the common man. He accused the Mimiko administration of overtaxing the people of the state.

Speaking also, the PDP state chairman, Ebenezer Alabi, said the days of the Labor Party government in Ondo were numbered. Mr. Alabi added that the wind of change would soon blow across the southwest states of the country, adding that the PDP was ready to regain its lost glory from the opposition parties.

"We are full of hope and expectations that the Fayose antidote that neutralized the APC poison in Ekiti will guarantee the PDP success in Osun State come August 9, 2014, victory in Ogun, Oyo and Lagos on the 28th of February 2015, as well as delivered in Ondo in 2016,” he said.

The rally was attended by many prominent PDP figures, including the chairman of the southwest PDP mobilization committee, Buruji Kashamu.

Why I Killed My Father – Redeemer’s University Student

Posted by: Tunde on July 9, 2014

Mr. Tolani Ajayi,  the 21 year old student, who killed his father, Charles Ajayi, a Nigerian senior lawyer(SAN) last week, has disclosed his reason for killing him.

Tolani, a 300-level student of History and International Relations, Redeemer’s University, Redemption Camp, along Lagos/Ibadan expressway, Ogun State, who is now being detained at Police Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta said he killed his father because he provoked him. He however expressed regret, asking his mother to forgive him. He said he had also asked God for forgiveness.

“I have sent some people to talk to her that I am sorry. I have talked to my sister. My mother is still grieving, I want to give her time. It may be spiritual, so I have asked God for forgiveness,” Tolani said.
It was learnt that the 21-year-old was into drugs as he had been caught twice by his school authorities. A panel was said to have also been set up to interrogate him on drug-related matters before he committed the murder, according to Vanguard.
Tolani confessed to being into drugs, saying: “I tried those drugs myself. I might have heard it from my friends but I tried them myself.”
He said he used a kitchen knife and a cutlass to attack his father during an argument between them, but denied being under the influence of the drugs then, as the action was not premeditated.
“The incident happened around 1 a.m. when the church community would have been sleeping. It was anger that led me into this. My father just bit me repeatedly with his teeth.
“There was an argument between us and I stood up to him. He beat me with a stick and bit me. Just the two of us were at home; my mother was in Abuja.”
“My father went to the kitchen and got a stick (wooden spoon) and used it on me repeatedly and I tried to defend myself, then he bit me on my shoulder and I got angry. I used normal small kitchen knife, after I used cutlass to attack him. I regret the action.”
Speaking further, Tolani said the family resided in Abuja. “We live in Abuja, I school at Redemption University at the camp. My father came for a programme and we were on break, so, I went to meet him where he lodged. We were meant to go back to Abuja together, then, the incident happened and I am here.”
When asked if he needs the help of Nigerians, he said: “There is no way Nigerians can help me, I am going to face my judgment. I am meant to pay for what I have done. It is not as if I am ready but it is inevitable. It is something that is going to happen, I am just waiting for it.”

Evidence Linking Politicians With Boko Haram Found In Balmo Forest

Posted by: Edwin on July 10, 2014

Security operatives have commenced interrogation of some politicians over links with Islamist sect group Boko Haram.
The politicians went under probe following the discovery of their identity cards and other incriminating items when troops destroyed terrorists’ camp in Balmo Forest, Bauchi State last week.
“Following the last successful operation carried out by security forces to dislodge terrorists from their forest bases in Darazo Local Government Area end of Balmo Forest, some politicians are currently being interrogated following the recovery of some sensitive registration cards and other materials of a prominent political party that were found in the possession of some of the suspects arrested,” said Mr. Mike Omeri, Coordinator of the National Information Centre (NIC), while speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
“Those who are being interrogated are prominent politicians belonging to a frontline political party. Troops even recovered the identity cards of some of the politicians,” Omeri said declining to mention the name of any party.
Omeri also decried the activities of some organisations and individuals championing the cause of the abducted Chibok girls as, according to him, they were aiding insurgency in the country.
“Some of these groups are augmenting and supplementing terrorists by their activities because they create diversion for security operatives from promptly responding to insurgent activities.”

Team officials were also not left out of the largesse with the least getting about $25,000.
But it was further learnt that it was not all plain sailing as there were disagreements particularly as regards whether those who qualified the team for Brazil 2014 should also be part of the appearance fee.
“There was a big issue among the senior players whether those who were part of the qualifiers should also get something. At the end of the day, skipper Joseph Yobo prevailed that they also have to be included,” a team official informed AfricanFootball.com
“So, even some players like John Utaka and Raheem Lawal, who played just a couple of qualifiers, will also get something.”
