One person was reportedly killed while several others were injured
following an attack on a Catholic Church in Ungwan Pau-Pau village,
Kachia local government area of Kaduna state by gunmen suspected to be
Fulani herdsmen on Sunday.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 8 am on Sunday when the gunmen invaded the Church during Sunday worship.
Eyewitnesses said a young man who was guarding the Church was killed
while several others sustained injuries from gun shots and were rushed
to the hospital in the area for treatment.
According to Timothy Gomel, a resident of the community, “The gunmen
came with sophisticated weapons shooting and one person died instantly
while several others have been admitted in the hospital. The Mass was
going on when the gunmen came and started shooting sporadically and
people started running in all directions.”
