Governor
Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday dismissed the reported
endorsement of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka
Ihedioha, for the state governor’s seat in 2015 by maverick politician,
Senator Arthur Nzeribe, as a sign of failure.
According to him, Nzeribe has never supported a credible candidate for elective position.
The governor, who was reacting to some media reports of the
endorsement of Ihedioha by the Oguta-born politician, said he did not
wish to be endorsed by him as it would be a sign of failure.
Recall that Senator Nzeribe had vowed to ensure that Okorocha does not return as governor of Imo State.
Speaking to journalists at Government House, Owerri, Okorocha said
Nzeribe had not been known to support a credible and masses-oriented
candidate throughout his political career, describing his (Nzeribe’s)
present political style as old-fashioned.
“I pray that Nzeribe do not endorse me, because he is bad news. He
has never been known to endorse anybody in a better way, his song is
old-fashioned and no longer in vogue. For those who have retired, may
their political soul rest in peace”, he stated.
Okorocha, who is believed to be eyeing the All Progressives Congress
presidential ticket, also maintained that leadership comes from God and
not from man, adding that his destiny could not be changed by any man if
he decided to stand for re-election as governor of Imo State in 2015.
