I’m Not Bothered By Impeachment Threat, Says Al-Makura

Embattled Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura, has shaken off the impeachment threat by the House of Assembly, saying he has not committed any constitutional breach to warrant his removal.

20 out of the 24-member state assembly had on Monday signed the impeachment notice against the governor, citing gross misconduct and violation of the Nigerian constitution. The clerk has been directed by the House to serve Al-Makura with the notice.

The governor, who spoke through the state commissioner for information, Hon. Hamza Elayo, said: “The governor is not bothered about this latest move. He is not shaking because he has not breached the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“We are yet to receive any notice and, until we get it, we react appropriately. Please note that the governor is serving the state to the satisfaction of the people and there is no cause for alarm”, he said
