Ahead
of the 2015 general election, a group known as the League of Patriotic
and Progressive Youth, has said that former Vice President Atiku
Abubakar is the only candidate that has the political clout to deliver
the presidency to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
A statement by its North central zonal coordinator, Dominic Alancha,
said after various consultations with other youth groups in the country
and leading political actors, “it is increasingly clear that only the
former Vice President has the political stamina and sagacity to match
the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP)”.
He added: “We therefore, urge the APC and all those who are strongly
desirous of a viable alternative to the PDP, to heed our call and push
for the candidacy of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku. On our part, we have
commenced a nationwide mobilization towards achieving this modest target
for APC”.
